New Years Day on salisbury plain

A few of us went out for a mellow day on some trails on Salisbury plain, the MOD training ground yesterday, nothing extreme just a day out to enjoy the scenery and we also went to check out a village called Imber. The MOD kicked all the 150 residents out to train American troops in 1942, not many of the original buildings are still standing, however the Church has been restored and they open the village up to civilians a few days a year.

A few pictures, some are mine and others are a friends.

Cheers! Yeah it's a good place to spend the day, It covers about 300 square miles of rolling countryside and most of the year there are plenty of trails open to follow if the MOD aren't training, there's old tanks and military vehicles scattered everywhere, fake towns for training and on the the rare occasion you find a tank crossing your path!

My other friend just posted up a few more pics

careful--....'almost' sounds like an invitation! (last time, I ended up in Costa Rica!)

Door's open here; I'm an hour west of NYC, and have some rock for you!

Haven't been to the UK in 10 years...

I'll wait for you to put the LWB together so I can rent-a-rig!

I was stationed at Lakenheath AS many years ago and enjoyed England alot. The area down by Lands End and Stonehenge is something else.

Looks like you've got some nice rigs. You ought to hook up with those crazy bastards on Top Gear and get them out in the mud and off the pavement!

thanks for sharing the pictures, we don't have any castles or tanks but we do have the Rocky Mountains and 13,000 plus feet passes
