It may be a bit early - I think deer season doesn't start until November in Missouri...

Get your cameras and projectile weapons ready...

We have 21 days starting the 16th of Nov for rifle. Bow season opened Oct1st, but we don't allow bow hunting on the property, so of course the deer get pushed onto our property during bow season, so we have to patrol and remove poachers.

This was send to me by a hunting bud don't know where it was killed or who got it but its a monster..

People here have no respect for fence lines. I lost 3 cameras a feeder 2 deer stands few years back. Now I mount cameras high off the ground with another aimed at the the first. Would really love to get a pic of the people who took my stuff. I keep a fairly tight group at 60 yards. Lol

I went out and set up two more stands today for my uncle and cousin. Then I went and checked out my treestand and trim a few branchs, I am sitting there just checking out the view and look down and there 12 feet from the base of the tree was a fresh scrape, did not trim anything!

Dr. removed my restriction for work finally. Got in the tree for the past 2 days. Haven't seen a deer makes me think someone has been in on my property screwing things up. I have plenty of day time pics. Just no luck I guess.

Always good to hear positive news from the doc!

We constantly patrol for poachers and trespassers during bow season, we don't allow any bow hunting as we discovered far more wounded and dead dear that had not been tracked, than we were seeing from yotes, and seeing we consider yotes as vermin that doesn't leave much wiggle room for bow hunters in my mind.

Yeah I retired my old 30-30 lever for the 300blk AR, it is lighter and far more fun to shoot, but it does have an expensive hunger to burn thru ammo.......LOL

Today was the opening of rifle season, got a late start as my grandfather was a little slow getting going this morning, but at 99yrs old you can do whatever you want or can, LOL

Debated what rifle to use, so I took the AR AND the 30RAR Encore....both with blacktips

So I got into the stand around 0700, didn't see anything until 1010 when a doe and fawn meandered thru and she was looking behind her and at 1015 I shot a 3.5yr old with 5pnts, Hit right behind the L front shoulder, took out that lung, then the blacktip ripped thru the diaphragm and exited thru the last few ribs of the opposite side with a 3" hole. The buck ran about 120 yards in a almost perfect circle to bed down about 20 yards from where I shot him. Very little external blood as the intestines plugged the exit hole. He was not going to expire quickly, so I put another blacktip thru the back of his neck exiting the front of the neck just under his jaw line and lights out.

Good deal sounds like a great day in the woods. So how did your grandfather do?

Myself sit this morn till around 11:30 without a single deer in sight. Weather change didn't help went from the teens to around low 40's. Now on Veteran's day the woods were alive seen like 6 different young bucks chasing doe' s around. On of my favorite hunting days in all my year's being in the woods . But after the following Wednesday temp changed and bright moon things went south. Hoping the morn will bring some more action.

my grandfather didn't see anything, but on the way home a 10 point ran out in front of his car and committed suicide along with about 6K$ in damages.....

We had a warm front come in yesterday and a cold front coming in tomorrow afternoon, so they were up and moving early today and bed down around 12 as the temps nearly reached 60. 10% chance of rain at 0700, 30% by 1000, and 80% by 1400, so they may be moving in the morning.

Yeah it had been rainy and windy all day here as well, going to get even windier tomorrow as the warm front is pushed out by the artic front coming in tomorrow night into Tuesday with snow starting at 0600. I might go sit in the ladder stand tomorrow late afternoon and take my climber Tuesday morning for the Northerly winds, spotted our Bullwinkle buck this morning, 5th year in a row and need a north wind to hunt him.

If you can climb high enough the wind direction shouldn't matter. Might not be able to shoot from that high but they won't smell anything .
Hate to hear that your grandfather went from a gun hunt to an auto. The insurance companies need to pay us for taking them out or at the least buy tags for the hunters..Well hope he is ok car's and trucks can be replaced.. Good luck with Bullwinkle..
