Great looking shooter. I am a 9mm fan myself, would love to have a 45ACP but like you said with ammo being so hard to get it's best to get what you've already got.

It's just wrong for a 1911 to be chambered in 9mm. Nice looking piece but still......

So does anyone have any experience with duracoat? I've watched a few videos, and it looks easy enough... But exactly how durable is duracoat?? Is it better to bake it on? Is there a better alternative?

Add to the list.. Caspian Trik trigger, Wilson drop in beavertail, EMC web hammer. Everything got a quick polish and fitting. The drop in beavertail is functional and looks ok... but... I think I'm gonna take a little material off the tail itself for a cleaner fit instead of taking material off the frame to true it up like you normally do for a non drop-in tail...
Cerakote wears too.. My Scorpian has it and it is wearing where I set it down on my shooting matt all the time. Left side on the slide at the barrel. This gun is never holstered so I know thats not it.

Duracoat sucks on a gun that will be holstered and shot. I did mine and it still bothers me. When I have the extra cheese I'm going to have it blued or Hard Chromed.

Here's my thread, but I have a bunch more pics as well.

Yeah yeah yeah.. I've heard the .45 only argument many times before.. To me, a 1911 is a 1911 whether it's a .45, 9mm, 38super or whatever. In this case, I'll take my extra 2 to 3 rounds any day! HaHaHa
Actually, if the 22tcm ammo was easier to find I'd love to get my hands on one of them! Imagine a 1911 shooting 22's that outperform a .45?? Yessir, I'm interested!

Thanks for the heads up on the duracoat.. I've decided that for now I'm ok with the parkerized finish. It's starting to show some wear on the edges and a few light scratches but it gives the Rock some unique character. It's not a carry pistol for me but has definitely become the first one I grab when it's time to send rounds down range!
