how many parks are in the area?

I am looking at possibly relocating into this area, and am curious how many parks are available? is there any wheeling on public land? (I doubt it) I am currently looking around rausch creek area of Pennsylvania. I have a pretty big area to choose from. what are some of you locals thoughts?
thanks.

RC = 3000 acres, and offers soup-to-nuts wheeling...imho
property should be reasonable...

There is also alot of private property, and it takes very little effort on a persons part to make nice with the landowners and get permission to drive on logging trails. Dont show up in your rig expecting to go wheeling on the property. You have to convince them you are a decent person and wont destroy things like a typical flatlander and absolutely do not include ATV's in your talks. Most all of the landowners up here do not allow ATV's due to the abysmal character of most ATV riders and the immense liability they present to the landowner. 4X4 truck's have a far better image and safety record. Do not expect to get permissions from private landowners to use the property for 4x4's from oct thru dec because of hunting season.

Pittsburgh is 2 hours from me, I don't have any wheeling trails around but I do have lots of dirt road riding that can be done.

I have a spare set of doors if you need them.

pine grove looks nice; very spread out, and you can hop right on 81S to 78, and be back closer to some of the more built up towns.

I don't know a lot about it per se, but the campground we stay in is in pine grove, and the area is far from 'built up'

pm freebird01 or madsammer- they both live close by there

Redbeard, If you are around Rausch the weekend of Nov 9-11 my local club from Southern MD are having our annual family run. We go to a local restaurant Friday night and take over the pool area at the Comfort Inn off exit 100 in Pine Grove Sat night. Wheel Friday and Saturday and possibly Sunday. Both Oscello and myself are a part of this club.
HRC Turkey Run

As for places to wheel, may be a little different for you, and you will probably need to travel.
Rausch Creek, PA
Big Dogs Offroad, VA
there are also a few more wheeling places in MD, WV, VA and I believe 1 more in PA. I have also been to NY wheeling on Public lands but the catch is the vehicle has to be registered with a tag either in or out of state with insurance.

It is a very nice area. I have a few friends out that way and I occaisionally fly out at Harris Hill which overlooks Horseheads. Some nice wineries out there and some great deer hunting. The only downside is having to deal with the Govt of NYS, a pure big govt socialist bureaucracy. You could live in PA and commute to horseheads in 30-40 minutes. Gasoline is well over 4$ in NY, and up to 75cents cheaper in Pa.
