Tracker Sidekick 5.62, 5.625, 5.63 F+R

Extremely rare Tracker, Trackick, Sidekick front and rear axles with factory installed 5.625 ring and pinion gears. Rear axle is complete with brakes, front is just the third in the housing.









These were very hard to find. I was going to use them in my Kick but decided to stay with smaller tires.

Asking $1000 obo, open to trading also.

Prefer not to ship but willing to drive to meet.

I don't mean to be a poop, but I am pretty sure there is not such thing as a 5.625 Ring and pinion set - Suzuki or otherwise.

I seem to recall there may have been a 5.38 and there is the very common 4.625 to 1 available.

Another reason I am doubtful is the fact that most front axles equipped with 5.12 R&Ps have a history of breaking off teeth when overstessed because of their small size. A 5.625 R&P would be even easier to damage.

You might want to do a check of the differential's true ratio.

I agree, I have a set of 5.38s, never heard of 5.625s. My LJ 10 has 5.83 but they are tiny.

They only came in 1989 1.3 CARBURETED 2-door Trackicks without power steering. 8/45 tooth count.

Very rare, if I could find another set, I wouldn't be selling. I need two rears rather than a front and rear.

I have a Sidekick Sport with 265/75r16 and the stock 5.125s and it does ok for me on the highway with a turbo (no intercooler yet). But with these I could move up to 33s and feel like I have more power. 4.24 t-case so offroad has never been a problem.

Bowie Kid,
I had an 1.6td in a 87 softop, yotas, 6.5, yj, 4.10 yotas, 33s also but no pump mods. It was quick to 60 but couldn't run much faster and I only averaged about 25-26 MPG, I ended up putting a 16v back in that chassis and now doing my other samurai with an ALH and 1:1 high range.

What has your experience been with the Giles pump? How fast can you cruise and hold speed up hill on the highway? And MPGs? Just curious because your setup is so close to what I had but never spent the money on a Pump.

My friend has a 16v turbo in his Samurai. After riding with me he thought mine would outrun his. My Giles pump is set for about 125 hp at 20 pounds of boost. I didn't have enough turbo so it ran hot uphill and I wasn't able to determine things like what you're asking. I think the Samurai is just too restrictive airflow wise for a td, especially with a winch. Been down over a year now with a blown head gasket. My latest project is a Diahatsu Rocky on Toy 5.29, Tracker trans and tcase with 4.24. It has the 1.9td with the Giles pump, with a 1z going in as soon as I get the bugs worked out of the 1.9 so I can sell it or put it in the Sami. 1z will have a Rover pump and a Holset He200wg turbo. Shooting for about 150 hp and plenty of torque, about 25 psi boost. Setup should be good for 200 hp if the internals can handle it. Eyeballing an ALH now for the stronger internals. Oh, I only got around 20 mpg in the Samurai. I attributed the running hot and poor mileage to not enough turbo for the fuel being injected. Tdi's run cooler. You can mod your own pump ( if going mechanical) to nearly what a Giles pump can do. Of course with electronics, a program, bigger injectors, and turbo you can have it all.

125 hp out of a 1.6td has to be badass.

I came to the same conclusion about the samurai being too much of a brick to work well with that engine at highway speeds.

Plus I have an ALH golf and wagon and BHW sedan, and 2 ALHs and a BHW sitting on the garage floor so I didn't see a reason to pursue 1.6td performance when tdis are so much easier to find and run so cool.

Which turbo are you running on the 1.6td? Intercooled? I had a k24.

I don't know much about the AHU or 1z, but I love the ALH with a passion. BHWs are beasts but the chain driven balance shafts need to be deleted on all of them and there is the possible cam wear issue. Although mine have 330k and 219k miles and still on the original cams with no abnormal wear.

HE200 would be my dream turbo, do you have source for a bolt on manifold or fab your own? The turbo on my 1.8 sport is an HX30, love Holset.

How much power do you think your 1.9 is putting through that trackick transmission? I really want to run one behind the ALH in the samurai but can't decide if I should step up to a G54 or W56 (have a G54 w/dual cases, twin stick and trackick trans w/4.24 and twin stick on the floor, but I would rather use the toy trans in a bigger project later).

As has been stated, the 5.62s came in the 89 sidekicks that had the carbed 1.3 and manual tranny. I have had and sold 4 or 5 sets of 5.62s.
Also, from what I have read and seen, it is the aluminum front housing that grenades when stressed, not the pinion teeth. I run 5.12 gears in my steel samurai thirds and have never broken any gear teeth.

The 1z/ahu is similar to the ALH but weaker rods, etc. power potential is less also.
Wife's Jetta is a BEW, smooth, quiet, powerful, economical.
I ran a k24 (intercooled) with poor results plus though it was freshly rebuilt it only lasted a couple hundred miles. Replaced with the k14 from the AAZ and it came to life. It could set you back in the seat, though not really hard. Fun to drive. The k14 was quick to boost but inefficient above 15 psi. It would briefly hit 20 but the pump was set for 19 so too much fuel for not enough boost. Too much exhaust heat and the radiator couldn't keep up. It gets HOT here.
I bought my manifold off eBay. Had to buy an adapter to bolt the Holset to it. Presently have a Saab turbo on the 1.9. Going from 4.10 to 5.29 to see if that helps with spooling.
Then I'll mount the Holset which would match up perfectly with the tdi head.
I went with the Kick transmission because I had the adapter for it. Otherwise I would have gone Toyota for the strength.
Still rebuilding after a devastating house fire so projects are last to get attention. Maybe after the wife gets her kitchen back Ill have some free time.

I recall seeing that gear list before now that I see it. I've never run across a 1.3 Tracker so wasn't sure they ever imported any.
