I get bored driving my 1/18th Nylint by myself, but when a friend comes over w/ his.....

We generally see who can go the furthest, then the other one drives over the whomever is stuck!

Yup, throttle control, proportional steering, high/ low range selectable from the remote. They're pretty cool, but I'd like mine a lot more if I didn't keep grenading the front end!

Have you guys replaced the original orings or belts for tighter ones? For both the steering and drive motors?

I haven't done the steering yet, but it needs it bad. I put the front o-ring in the rear and a smaller o-ring up front. My front end was grenading from day one though. Passenger side "u-joint" was popping out of place, I totaled the stub axle that is in the hub, luckily the guys in our machine shop at work made me a new one. After that I started shearing the "u-joint" pin in that same hub, not a big deal, I just carried extra's. Last time out I sheared that pin in the first few minutes of driving, I figured no problem, I was just goofing around with my father-in-law and daughter (they each have one), then POW. I actually broke the short inner axle piece on the driver side. Snapped it right in two where it tapers down. I would have never guessed that the plastic gears would have been able to generate enough torque to do that. Now I'm trying to design something a little more heavy duty to replace it all with. I'm playing with the idea of a 5/16" ball end allen wrench and a socket to make the swivel, use iot sort of like a Birf. Of course, I'll probably destroy a gear box then.

It is hard to imagine that you could break those shafts with a belt driven transmission. You figure the belts would slip first or break the plastic gears like you mentioned. Looks like RC4WD is going to be making upgraded axles and knuckles for them.

Never thought flexing on a guy wire would be a cool idea. Those things are sweet.
