best years for Toy donor truck

Found a large collection of 79 to 85 4x4s for sale. Curious other than motors, if there are any differences/advantages to certain years over others. Thinking about Toy axles under my Sammy, and maybe building a pure Toy bash buggy.

85, you get full gussett on the front axle and the motor s/b a 22re which is fuel injection,
Holy Grail would be an 85 extended cab factory turbo short bed imo.

84-85 have more trussing on the front axle, and the longer/stronger g and w series transmissions. The w56 from 85+ efi tucks is the preferred trans and the trans behind the 22ret (R151f?) is the real hot dog but good luck. If you find an 85 efi truck in good shape it would be a shame to steal its axles. Though not as strong as the G or W series, the shorter 80-83 4 and 5 transmissions fit great under a zuk.

Thanks for the replies. I am moving forward with the purchase. 8 to 13 trucks available, depending on what I take. These are all parts rigs. A couple of the older ones are rusted in half. Will have to sort it all out here in another week. Gonna take forever to move them all. My Wife is not impressed.
